The training's in the bag, you just need some down time and let your body do the rest. To be honest you could not run again and your result at Rotto wouldn't be affected very much at all. Fingers crossed for you, hope it's just the cold weather making things feel worse than they are.

I'll be crossing my fingers for you - too good a vein of form not to get your PB at Rotto

Apparently its ITB friction syndrome. I have an inflammed bursar on the outside of my knee. Appointment for a sports doctor next Tuesday afternoon where I will have ultrasound to confirm and hopefully cortisone shot to reduce the inflammation quickly. Also going to see my osteopath on the same day.

Won't be racing Sunday I'm afraid.

Sorry you won't be racing but very happy you are easing up and taking care of the injury!!!

All the best with it. Be positive, trust what you have already done.

Keith Dempsey in Palmyra is a magic massage therapist, and has done wonders for people with ITB syndrome. He may be a 70 year old ex sheep farmer, but his great ham hands are the saving grace for many a runner. A lot of Comrades guys use him. Email me if you want his number. The roller as well hurts like hell but is great for ITB problems.

The ITB isn't too tight anymore - the problem is the inflammed bursar that it is flicking across/catching on. I need to get the inflammation down so that's where the cortisone will hopefully do its magic. I might need some massage to keep it under control post the injection though.

Oh, bugger. Sorry to hear about it mate. Bring on the cortisone! You'll be tapered to perfection!

I had my ITB bursa injected (actually self injected) a couple of years ago with great results for about 5 days - so you may want to think about the timing.

Mate, hope the inflammation goes down quickly and then you'll be right to go.
