Sort of long run

Went out this morning for planned 18.4km longish run, certainly the longest since the marathon. Ended up going quicker than I had planned because I set out a bit late and wanted to get back in time to pick up Sammie from her dancing class.

So 18.4km in 1 hour 19 minute (4.17/km). Pushed pretty hard for the last 4km and ran fairly comfortably early on so it was a bit of a progression run. Very happy with how the run went and really looking forward to getting stuck into marathon training again in a few weeks.

Was a morning for running into running partners. Sugar and Sas came past on their bikes (and in their bright yellow Boston tops) as I was running past Burswood. Had a quick chat, both of them are still struggling a bit with injuries post Boston so it seems like it is a bit of a slower road back for them. It's still less than a month since Boston though so it's not not all bad to have a bit of downtime now and certainly better than coming back too soon if your body isn't ready.

Also ran into Simon and his family when we went down to vote at the school. He did a good long run this morning (37km) - his high mileage regime appears to agree with him.

Rest day planned for tomorrow and with Ben having an early soccer game, no chance of getting in an early morning recovery run anyway. Could be the last of the good weather for a while though so might head out on the bike for a bit in the afternoon.

I've been meaning to congratulate you on a fantastic effort at Boston-you ran a perfect race. Great to hear that you've recovered really well and that the training is going so well.

Cheers
