Still alive but running much less at the moment. Apart from a three week period in late April/early May when I was running 65-70km a week, I have been averaging 30-40km a week off of 2-3 runs per week.
I have kept up my regular runs with Simon E on Wednesday and Rob on Thursday but other than that, I have found it hard to get out on my own. Monday has been the most likely day and I have found the weekends pretty hopeless. Still, I have been enjoying the extra time with the family and especially the kids' soccer on Sunday mornings. It has been good not to miss any games this season due to races.
I am still able to run around the Bridges and a little bit further but sometimes backing up on the Thursday is hard. I had a pretty good run with Simon last Wednesday as we ran out to Rossmoyne (14.4km @ 4:28/km pace) but then Thursday's 15.7km was at 4:44/km.
At the moment, I am torn between just waiting for the motivation to come back or alternatively, forcing myself to get out every day, almost like a reverse cold turkey. I am pretty sure that once the endorphins kick in and I get back into the habit, normal service will be resumed. I am sure I read somewhere that it takes three weeks to establish a habit so it is just a matter of buckling down for some discomfort.
I am missing feeling like an athlete and need to get back into it before the self loathing takes hold.

come back mate!
Look forward to seeing you out there sometime - just don't be too hard on yourself if it takes a few weeks for the pace to come back
