"It's a treat being a runner, out in the world by yourself with not a soul to make you bad-tempered or tell you what to do." - Allan Sillitoe

Kenyan running documentary
Beautifully shot documentary featuring David Rudisha, Abel Kirui, Renato Canova and Br Colm O'Connell. Unfortunately, the narration is not in English but most of the people interviewed are speaking English.

Back on track (but a bit behind schedule) plus videos
Back to running without injury and last week I managed to run my first 100km week since the marathon.
My original plan post Bridges was to increase volume and ease off on speedwork while running gradually longer tempo runs. My couple of injuries has put me a couple of weeks behind schedule (only ran about 60km over those two problem weeks) and I don't think that the reduced time now available and that sort of approach would get me to the start line of Run for a Reason with the best chance to run well.
So I am sticking with the two quicker sessions a week. Last week, this was a Mona Fartlek and an 8km tempo and so far this week I have done a hill rep session. I also got my long run back out to 2 hours last Saturday. The only run I struggled with a bit was the long run on the Saturday after the tempo run on Friday. I have had to move my long run from Sunday because of the kids' soccer but there will be some mornings where I may still be able to get a longer run in depending on where and what time they are playing.
Here are some videos from around the world and a widget which links to a really cool music video featuring Reid Coolsaet:
